Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said on Wednesday that security forces have killed 54 terrorists so far in ongoing operations, adding that law enforcement agencies were engaging the militant and they would all be brought to justice.
Addressing a press conference on the deteriorating security situation in Balochistan, the DG ISPR said altogether 42 civilians and policemen were also martyred during the ongoing operation.
“India is orchestrating them. They are being carried out with the support of hostile forces aligned with India that cannot tolerate Pakistan’s dignity, prosperity, and stability,” Chaudhry said, noting that there had been “three major terrorist incidents” in the past four days.
At the outset of the presser, he said he would brief the nation on the recent terrorist incidents in Balochistan and their background, noting that three major attacks had occurred over the past four days.
The military spokesperson said the first incident took place on the night of July 4-5 in Hanna Urak, where militants belonging to what the government refers to as “Fitna al-Khawarij” attacked local residents.
He said the residents resisted the assault and forced the attackers to retreat. Four civilians were martyred, and six others sustained injuries in the attack.
The Pakistani government uses the term “Fitna al-Khawarij” to refer to the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and its affiliated groups.
Referring to the second incident, Lt Gen Chaudhry said militants launched a coordinated, multi-directional assault on a police checkpost guarding Pumping Station No. 3 of Mangi Dam in Ziarat district.
He said the police personnel fought back, killing 15 militants during the exchange of fire. Nine policemen, all locals, embraced martyrdom while defending the post.
