The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy on Tuesday dispatched the Liaoning aircraft carrier formation to relevant waters of the Western Pacific for training.
According to an official announcement from the PLA Navy, the task force will conduct long-range tactical flights, live-fire drills, support and cover operations, and comprehensive rescue exercises to test and improve the troops’ combat readiness.
The PLA Navy stated that the training is routine and organized in accordance with the annual plan, which aims to enhance the military’s capability to fulfill its missions, and is fully in compliance with international law and practice.
