Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed deep concern over the prevailing tensions in the region and urged all parties to reduce escalation, avoid further confrontation and exercise restraint.
In a statement issued on social media platform X, the Saudi ministry said it fully supports Pakistan’s mediation and diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching a political solution that would shield the region from further tension, instability and threats to security, adding that the present situation is not in the interest of the region or the wider world.
The ministry also stressed that the restoration of freedom of international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz is of utmost importance, adding that the situation should return to its natural state as it was prior to 28 February, to ensure the safe and uninterrupted passage of vessels.
