Iran President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that adherence to promises and agreements forms the foundation of meaningful negotiations, while stressing that there is a significant lack of trust between Iran and the United States.
In a statement posted on social media, Pezeshkian said that Iranians are well aware of the conduct of the U.S. government, alleging that Washington seeks to force Iran into submission. He added that the Iranian people would not yield under pressure under any circumstances.
He further described recent signals from the United States as contradictory and unconstructive, saying they send a negative message at a time when diplomatic engagement is already strained.
In a separate response, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh reacted to statements by former U.S. President Donald Trump, saying he is accustomed to issuing contradictory remarks on social media and that such statements do not merit serious attention.
Khatibzadeh added that the United States must abandon what he described as a “self-interested approach” and fully respect the rights of the Iranian people, stating that there is no alternative to this position.
