Lantern Festival. As the name suggests, the festival has an enduring tradition of enjoying lantern displays.
This year, the 40th edition of the Qinhuai Lantern Festival has illuminated the historic city of Nanjing in east China’s Jiangsu Province.
Spanning eight themed zones, including the Confucius Temple, Laomendong historical district and Bailuzhou Park, this year’s festival features nearly 400 lantern installations that blend folklore, history and modern design. The festival runs from January 21 to May 31.
The Qinhuai Lantern Festival, which dates back to Eastern Wu (222-280), not only preserves centuries-old traditions but also expands its international presence. This year, select lantern displays are also showcased in Le Barcarès, France, highlighting cultural exchange between China and France under the shared glow of festive lights.
