LAHORE : Academic institutions, policymakers, and youth leaders converged in Lahore to reaffirm the intellectual and cultural foundations of Pakistan–China friendship at the international conference “Bridging Horizons: Celebrating Pakistan–China Deep-Rooted Friendship.”
Held at the University of the Punjab and jointly organised with China’s Institute for a Community with a Shared Future and the Chinese Embassy on Tuesday afternoon, the conference highlighted the growing importance of academic diplomacy and people-to-people connectivity in sustaining bilateral relations.
Speakers repeatedly stressed that while Pakistan–China ties are strategically robust, their long-term strength lies in youth engagement, scholarly collaboration, and cultural exchange. Senior Chinese academics reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to deepening intellectual cooperation with Pakistani institutions.
The conference featured extensive discussions on the Digital Silk Road, artificial intelligence, geological cooperation, regional connectivity, agriculture, and geopolitics, reflecting the expanding scope of Pakistan–China engagement.
A major highlight was the student poster and speech competition, in which participants creatively expressed themes of friendship, shared development, and future cooperation. Nearly 500 participants attended the event, signalling strong academic enthusiasm.
