China announced on Tuesday their delegation for the upcoming 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, comprising 286 members, including 126 athletes.
The country’s 58 male and 68 female athletes will participate in 91 events in 15 disciplines in Italy. The oldest is curler Xu Xiaoming at 41 and the youngest is 17-year-old snowboarder Ren Chongshuo.
With an average age of 25, the squad will be led by defending Olympic champions Gu Ailing in freestyle skiing and Su Yiming in snowboarding.
The young generation will be joined by veterans including short track speed skater Fan Kexin, freestyle skier Xu Mengtao and figure skating pair Sui Wenjing and Han Cong, all gold medalists on home ice and snow at the Winter Games in Beijing four years ago.
Back in 2022, China clinched 15 medals at home, including nine golds.
The 2026 Games will feature 116 events across 16 disciplines, the most in history. Competitions will be held in four main clusters: Milan, Valtellina, Cortina, and Val di Fiemme from February 6 to 22.
