ISLAMABAD (DI NEWS) : The International Institute for Central Asia and Pakistan’s Center for Regional Connectivity with a Shared Future (CRCSF) formally entered into a research partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, marking an important step toward strengthening academic and policy cooperation between Central Asia and South Asia.The MoU was signed by Ambassador Javlon Vakhabov, Head of the International Institute for Central Asia, and Tahir Farooq, Head of the Center for Regional Connectivity with Shared Future. The signing ceremony was held at the Headquarters of The International Institute for Central Asia located in Tashkent. The ceremony was attended by Muhammad Abbas Khan, Director for Central Asia and teams of both the sides.During the discussions held on the occasion, Mr Farooq praised Uzbekistan’s proactive and visionary role in advancing regional cooperation in Central Asia. He highlighted that Uzbekistan has played a pivotal role in promoting stability, dialogue, and connectivity, while contributing to the emergence of a new model of regional engagement based on cooperation, inclusivity, and shared development.Both sides exchanged views on key regional and interregional issues, including connectivity corridors, economic integration, regional security dynamics, trade facilitation, and people to people exchanges. Emphasis was placed on the role of research driven policy inputs in addressing shared challenges and unlocking new opportunities for cooperation between Central Asia and Pakistan.Under the MoU, the two institutions will collaborate on joint research initiatives, policy papers, expert exchanges, academic conferences, and publications focusing on regional connectivity, energy cooperation, climate resilience, economic development, and evolving geopolitical trends.
