Pakistan on Tuesday announced a 15-member squad for the ACC U-19 Asia Cup 2024, confirming young batter Farhan Yousuf as captain for the Dubai event.
The tournament will run from December 12 to 21, with Pakistan placed in Group A alongside India, Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 3.
The Pakistan U-19 team begins its training camp in Karachi today ahead of departure.
Squad led by Farhan Yousuf; Usman Khan vice-captain
The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed that Farhan Yousuf will lead the side, while Usman Khan has been appointed vice-captain for the tournament. Former national captain Sarfaraz Ahmed will serve as the team manager.
The squad also includes Abdul Subhan, Ahmed Hussain, Ali Hassan Baloch, Ali Raza, Daniyal Ali Khan, Hamza Zahoor and Huzaifa Ahsan. Moman Qamar, Muhammad Huzaifa, Muhammad Sayyam and Muhammad Shayan are also part of the 15-member team.
Additionally, Niqab Shafiq and Sameer Minhas complete the squad list for Dubai.
Group A fixtures and tournament schedule
The U-19 Asia Cup will be held in Dubai from December 12 to 21, with Pakistan set to play three group-stage matches before the knockout rounds.
Pakistan’s opening match will be held on December 12 at the Sevens Stadium against Qualifier 3. Their second match — the highly anticipated encounter against arch-rivals India — will take place on December 14 at the ICC Academy. The final group match is scheduled for December 16, when Pakistan will face Qualifier 1. The semi-final will be played on December 19, followed by the tournament final on December 21.
Preparations begin in Karachi
The Pakistan U-19 squad will begin its training camp in Karachi from today as part of its preparation for the continental event. Coaches and management are expected to fine-tune match strategies and team combinations ahead of the high-stakes tournament, especially the marquee clash against India.
