Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif left for Bahrain on Wednesday for a two-day official visit aimed at boosting bilateral cooperation.
The prime minister is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, federal ministers, and senior officials. During the visit, he will hold meetings with Bahrain’s leadership to enhance collaboration across trade, investment, energy, technology, education, and cultural sectors.
Strengthening bilateral cooperation
The Foreign Office (FO) said the visit reaffirms the longstanding and multifaceted ties between the two “brotherly countries.” Officials expect discussions to identify new avenues of partnership, reinforce cordial relations, and deepen people-to-people linkages for mutually beneficial cooperation.
“This official visit underscores Pakistan’s continued engagement with the Kingdom of Bahrain, aimed at fostering a results-oriented and strategic partnership between the two countries,” the FO added.
Security cooperation and strategic engagement
Earlier this year, Pakistan and Bahrain pledged to enhance cooperation in counter-terrorism, anti-human trafficking, and narcotics control. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had held talks in Manama with Bahraini Interior Minister General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, reviewing joint security efforts and ways to strengthen the Pakistan-Bahrain joint security committee.
The Bahraini minister described Naqvi’s visit as a valuable opportunity to deepen security ties, praising the current level of coordination between the two nations.
