Pakistan’s cricket stars witnessed mixed fortunes in the latest ICC rankings update as former captain Babar Azam and pacer Shaheen Afridi slipped in the ODI charts, while several teammates, including Mohammad Rizwan and Naseem Shah, recorded impressive upward moves.
Babar Azam, who previously held the fourth position, has now slipped to fifth place with 728 rating points in the ICC Men’s ODI batting rankings. The Pakistan skipper’s slight dip comes amid strong performances from other international batters.
Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan climbed one spot to 23rd, while opener Fakhar Zaman also improved, moving up to 26th. Middle-order batter Salman Ali Agha made a remarkable jump of nine places to reach 30th after his crucial knock against South Africa in the series opener, taking his total to 569 points.
Imam-ul-Haq dropped one place to 42nd, and young opener Saim Ayub retained his 53rd position with 509 points.
Global ODI batting standings
In the overall ODI batting chart, India’s Rohit Sharma continues to dominate at No. 1, followed by Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran in second place. New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell moved up two spots to third, pushing India’s Shubman Gill down to fourth position, just ahead of Pakistan’s Babar Azam.
Shaheen Afridi falls, Naseem Shah surges
In the bowling department, Pakistan’s newly appointed ODI captain Shaheen Afridi slipped one position to 15th with 587 points. However, young pacer Naseem Shah made a strong comeback, climbing 10 places to 33rd with 524 points following his consistent wicket-taking spells.
Spinner Abrar Ahmed also improved slightly, securing 37th position, while all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz advanced three places to 69th with 436 points.
Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan retained his top spot in the ODI bowling rankings, with South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj second and England’s Jofra Archer jumping to third, pushing Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana to fourth.
In the latest ICC T20 rankings update, India’s Abhishek Sharma has emerged as the No. 1 T20 batter. Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan climbed to 11th place, while Babar Azam rose nine spots to 30th. Saim Ayub jumped 10 places to 39th, and Salman Ali Agha also advanced 10 places to 54th.
Among bowlers, India’s Varun Chakravarti took the top position, while Pakistan’s spinner Abrar Ahmed retained his eighth place. Shaheen Shah Afridi moved up three places to 13th, continuing his steady rise in the shorter format.
