Actress Rashmika Mandanna has candidly spoken about the toll of overworking in the film industry, admitting that her lack of structured work hours has become “highly unsuggestible.”
As she gears up for her next film The Girlfriend, the actor emphasized the need for balance between career and personal well-being.
In a recent interview with Gulte, Rashmika reflected on her demanding schedule and the negative impact it has had on her health and lifestyle. “I overwork, and I am telling you it’s highly not suggestible,” she confessed.
The actress advised others in the industry to prioritize rest, saying, “It’s not sustainable, don’t do it. Do what’s comfortable for you, do what is right for you, get those 8 hours, get those 9–10 hours also, because trust me, that’s going to save you later.”
Actor calls for ‘9 to 5’ hours in film industry
Rashmika revealed that while she often finds it hard to refuse additional work, she believes actors should also be entitled to fixed working hours. “If I could choose for myself, I would say, please don’t make us actors do that. Like offices have 9–5, let us have that,” she said.
She further explained that she wants to dedicate more time to family, health, and future planning — aspects that often get overlooked due to her busy shooting schedules. “There’s still a family life I want to focus on, and I still want to work out… but right now I don’t have a say because I’m taking on too much,” she added.
Producer SKN recently praised Rashmika for her unmatched dedication to work, calling her the only “pan-India heroine” willing to work any number of hours. He said that while many debate over ideal working hours, Rashmika stands out for her passion and flexibility.

According to him, her commitment to timing and teamwork makes her “feel like part of the family” on set, rather than just another performer.
Upcoming films and personal milestones
Rashmika, who was last seen in Chhaava, Sikandar, Kuberaa, and Thamma this year, is now preparing for her next release The Girlfriend, directed by Rahul Ravindran, which hits theatres on November 7. She also has Cocktail 2 and Mysaa lined up for release.
Beyond her professional success, the actress recently got engaged to her long-time partner and actor Vijay Deverakonda. As per reports, the couple is expected to tie the knot in April next year.
Rashmika’s remarks shed light on the demanding nature of the entertainment industry, where long, unpredictable hours often blur the lines between work and personal life. Her call for structured schedules echoes a growing conversation about mental health and sustainable working practices in showbiz.
As The Girlfriend nears its release, fans are eager to see the actress return to screen — hopefully with a healthier balance between her career and well-being.
