Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday invited Qatari investors to explore new avenues of collaboration under Pakistan’s Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) framework, reaffirming the country’s commitment to expand trade and investment ties with Qatar.
The prime minister met with Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani, who is visiting Pakistan to co-chair the 6th Session of the Pakistan-Qatar Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC).
Focus on trade, investment, emerging sectors
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz stressed the importance of enhancing bilateral trade and investment cooperation, particularly in the areas of energy, agriculture, food security, information technology, tourism, and infrastructure development.
He highlighted Pakistan’s investor-friendly environment and expressed confidence that increased Qatari investment would play a vital role in strengthening Pakistan’s economy and boosting regional stability.
Strong partnership built on shared faith and mutual respect
PM Shehbaz expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of Pakistan-Qatar relations, noting that ties between the two nations are rooted in shared faith, values, and mutual respect.
He praised Qatar’s role as an important partner and commended its contributions as an influential regional mediator, particularly in supporting peace and economic collaboration across the Muslim world.
Qatar reaffirms commitment to deepen economic ties
Sheikh Faisal bin Thani conveyed warm greetings from the Qatari leadership and reaffirmed Doha’s commitment to deepening economic engagement with Pakistan. He noted that the 6th JMC session provided a vital platform to review existing cooperation and identify new initiatives for mutually beneficial partnerships.
The Qatari minister appreciated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of facilitating business-to-business linkages between the two countries.
Shared vision for regional cooperation
Prime Minister Shehbaz thanked Qatar for its continued support on regional and global issues and reiterated Pakistan’s desire to further strengthen cooperation at regional and multilateral forums.
Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination to translate their shared vision into concrete results, including increased investment projects and closer collaboration in priority economic sectors.
