Pakistani actress and entrepreneur Komal Aziz Khan has opened up about the misconceptions surrounding women in showbiz, revealing that even her own family believed she would one day get involved in a scandal — a prediction that, according to her, never came true.
Speaking on Subh ka Samaa, Komal Aziz shared that when she began acting, people around her — including her family — assumed she would soon be caught up in some controversy or romantic affair.
“Everyone thought I’d end up in a scandal, but that never happened,” she said, adding that her time in the industry was free of any such issues.
The actress emphasized that she never faced trolling, mistreatment, or professional misconduct while working in showbiz.
Why Komal Aziz quit acting
Reiterating her earlier statement about quitting acting, Komal explained that career longevity for women in showbiz is limited.
She said that actresses often receive leading roles based on their looks and physical appearance. However, once their appearance changes with age, opportunities tend to diminish.
“In this field, women have less time. After a certain age, roles change or stop coming altogether,” Komal said.
Despite stepping away, she clarified that she hasn’t shut the door completely. “It’s not that I’ll never act again — anything can happen in the future,” she added.
‘I faced no trolling in showbiz, but business brought challenges’
Komal Aziz, who now runs her own business, revealed that she faced more criticism and false allegations after becoming an entrepreneur than she ever did during her acting career.
She shared that several female employees once resigned from her company simultaneously without serving their notice period — and later launched a social media campaign against her when she refused to pay their pending salaries.
“They even made fake accounts on LinkedIn to defame me,” Komal alleged, adding that it was ironic to face trolling in business after having a clean record in showbiz.
‘I earn more in showbiz, but business gives perspective’
Komal also admitted that acting and modeling offer higher pay compared to business.
She said that when she hires models for her own brand’s photoshoots, she realizes how well the entertainment industry compensates for such work.
“I get an idea of how much money models make in a single photoshoot,” she said with a smile.
Komal Aziz’s journey — from a beloved actress to a businesswoman — reflects how women in Pakistan’s entertainment industry are exploring new paths while facing evolving challenges.
For her, showbiz never brought scandal — but business certainly brought struggle.
