Pakistan and China have agreed to enhance cooperation in the field of education, with a memorandum of understanding signed between the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) and Xinjiang University.
The signing ceremony took place at Xinjiang University in Urumqi, China. According to a statement issued by the PIDE, both universities agreed to expand academic and research collaboration.
PIDE Vice-Chancellor Dr Muhammad Nadeem Javed has represented Pakistan at the event. Discussions included joint research, faculty and student exchanges, and capacity building. Emphasis was placed on advancing cooperation under the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
Javed has termed the memorandum as a milestone in strengthening educational and research links between the two countries.
