Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Russia would ‘answer for all it is doing’ following the Russian attack earlier.
“Basically, during these weeks when the UN General Assembly was ongoing Russia literally using every day, every hour for strikes on Ukraine. Very mean strikes. And this is what defines Russia – what they are doing and not what they are saying or spreading across the world via various means. They rejected all realistic peace proposals and deserve really tough pressure,” Zelenskyy said in his nightly video address.
The Ukrainian president also said he expected the United States to ‘nudge Russia towards a change of their position and stop the war’. “We also expect strong moves from the United States of America. We spoke with President Trump about what can really nudge Russia towards a change of their position and stop the war. The world has means, which could work to bring peace about.”
Russia launched hundreds of drones and missiles at Kyiv and other parts of Ukraine early on Sunday, killing at least four people and injuring dozens, in one of the most sustained attacks on the capital since the full-scale war began. He added that Ukraine would work with European leaders to improve air defenses.
