The Pakistan Armed Forces are observing Defence and Martyrs’ Day with utmost simplicity, in light of the ongoing flood emergency in the country.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Asim Munir, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, along with the heads of the Pakistan Air Force and the Navy, have paid tribute to the brave martyrs and their families.
Military leaders, in their messages, emphasised that 6 September 1965 remains a symbol of the Pakistani nation’s unwavering resolve and unity. On this historic day, the nation’s soldiers stood firm like a fortified wall, successfully defeating the nefarious designs of a militarily superior adversary in terms of weapons and numbers. Their courageous acts conveyed a clear message — a united nation cannot be defeated. The nation salutes the martyrs, the veterans, and their brave families.
ISPR also highlighted that the Armed Forces have always stood by the nation in the face of external aggression, terrorism and natural disasters. The Armed Forces will continue to extend every possible assistance to the flood victims across Pakistan. The commitment to fulfil the sacred responsibility entrusted by the nation was reaffirmed. Any attempt to disrupt peace will be met with a firm response.
