Authorities in Sialkot have revised their earlier decision to keep all educational institutions closed from September 1 to September 5.
According to a new notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali, the closure order will now apply only to government schools, while private schools, colleges, and universities will continue functioning as usual.
Earlier order withdrawn
The earlier directive had ordered the closure of all public and private institutions across Sialkot from September 1 to 5 due to adverse weather and safety concerns. However, the district administration has now limited the scope of the order after reviewing the situation.
Private institutions to remain open
The DC clarified that private schools, colleges, and universities will remain open during this period. Students enrolled in private institutions are expected to continue their classes without disruption.
Meanwhile, government schools across the district will remain closed until September 5, in line with the revised directive.
On August 31, the district administration announced that all educational institutions in Sialkot — both government and private — would remain closed from Sept 1 to 5 due to ongoing flood damage.
According to the official notification, many schools in the district had been severely affected by recent floods, making it impossible to continue educational activities. The administration said the step had been taken to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and staff while restoration work continues.
