The death toll from Tuesday’s powerful explosion on Sariab Road in Quetta has climbed to 13, with at least 30 others injured, hospital officials confirmed.
The blast occurred near Shahwani Stadium, jolting the busy area and leaving rescue workers scrambling to shift casualties to the Civil Hospital Quetta.
A hospital spokesperson said that 13 bodies had been brought to the facility and treatment was underway for dozens of injured, some of them in critical condition.
Govt launches investigation
The Balochistan Home Department has ordered a formal inquiry into the incident. Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the attack, vowing that “the evil intentions of terrorists will be foiled at all costs.”
Security forces cordoned off the site soon after the blast, while investigators collected evidence to determine the nature of the explosion. No group has claimed responsibility so far.
