A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Monday urged relevant countries to respect China’s sovereignty and the rule of law in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), and stop interfering in Hong Kong affairs and China’s internal affairs in any form.
Spokesperson Mao Ning made the remarks at a regular press briefing in response to a query regarding Australia sheltering anti-China rioters.
Mao said the HKSAR government has issued a solemn statement, strongly opposing any country harboring criminals in any form.
Regarding China-Australia relations, China’s position remains consistent, she said, expressing hope that Australia will work with China to uphold the principles of equality, seek common ground while reserving differences, and mutually beneficial cooperation, and promote the healthy and stable development of China-Australia ties.
