Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, during his visit to Beijing, emphasized Pakistan’s desire to leverage Chinese technological advancements, particularly in electric vehicles (EVs) and next-generation batteries like sodium-ion technology. He highlighted EV manufacturing as a key area for future Pakistan-China cooperation, offering cost benefits for Chinese firms and helping Pakistan reduce fossil fuel dependency. The visit focuses on strengthening bilateral ties, advancing CPEC’s second phase, and boosting economic collaboration. Meanwhile, the government approved a five-year Rs100 billion subsidy scheme for 116,000 electric bikes and 3,170 electric rickshaws/loaders to promote EV adoption and environmental sustainability.
