Pakistan secured a dramatic 13-run win over West Indies in the third and final T20I on Monday, clinching the three-match series 2-1 at Central Broward Regional Park.
Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan posted a formidable 189-4, powered by brilliant half-centuries from openers Sahibzada Farhan (74 off 53) and Saim Ayub (66 off 49). The duo stitched a 138-run opening stand, laying a strong foundation for Pakistan’s innings.
Strong Start with the bat
Farhan reached his third T20I fifty in the 11th over, and Ayub followed suit two overs later. Their commanding partnership was finally broken in the 17th over when Shamar Joseph dismissed Farhan. Quick contributions from Hassan Nawaz (15 off 7), Khushdil Shah (11 off 6)* and Faheem Ashraf (10 off 3)* helped Pakistan finish strong.
West Indies’ chase falls short
In response, West Indies began aggressively, racing to 33 in the first two overs. Jewel Andrew (24) and Alick Athanaze (60) gave the hosts a promising start, with Athanaze smashing his maiden T20I half-century.
But Pakistan struck back through Haris Rauf, Mohammad Nawaz, and Saim Ayub, who took key wickets at crucial junctures. Despite a valiant 51 off 35 by Sherfane Rutherford, the West Indies fell short, ending their innings at 176-6.
Bowling performance
Pakistan’s bowling was evenly shared as Hasan Ali, Mohammad Nawaz, Haris Rauf, Sufiyan Muqeem, and Saim Ayub picked up one wicket each. A smart tactical change also saw Chase retire out, derailing West Indies’ momentum late in the chase.
