Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar reaffirmed on Sunday Pakistan’s strong commitment to international peace, security and conflict resolution during a phone call with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
According to details, Dar received the call from Guterres, during which he also highlighted Pakistan’s initiatives under its current presidency of the UN Security Council. Both the leaders agreed to meet at the upcoming Security Council meeting in New York.
Dar reiterated Pakistan’s continued support for the effective implementation of the UN mandate.
It is pertinent to note that Pakistan assumed the presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the month of July.
Earlier this month, Dar said: “Pakistan assumes the presidency with humility and a firm commitment to the principles enshrined in the UN Charter. In our time, conflicts and humanitarian crises are intensifying around the globe,” he said.
