ISLAMABAD (DI NEWS) : Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar met with Cao Shumin, Deputy Head of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Publicity Department and Minister of the National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA) of China, to discuss enhancing media cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting focused on broadening joint productions, combating misinformation, initiating training programs, and promoting cultural exchange, reflecting the deep-rooted friendship and mutual trust shared by Pakistan and China.
Strengthening Media Partnerships and Fighting Disinformation
Minister Tarar acknowledged Pakistan’s interest in learning from China’s advanced experience in media and communications, highlighting China’s expertise in digital media, public service broadcasting, and cultural content promotion. Both sides agreed on the importance of expanding collaboration to counter fake news and disinformation more effectively.
The officials endorsed plans for technical training and institutional cooperation, including a prospective agreement between China Central Television (CCTV) and Pakistan Television (PTV) aimed at fostering information exchange and stronger media ties.
Enhancing Cultural Ties Through Digital Influence Exchange
Discussions also covered facilitating exchange visits for digital influencers and social media representatives from both countries to deepen cultural connections and enhance bilateral engagement.
Attaullah Tarar remarked, “In today’s digital age, the exchange of influencers and social media representatives from both countries can bring renewed vitality to bilateral relations.” He further noted Pakistan’s dedication to transforming media cooperation into tangible outcomes.
Highlighting Key Bilateral Initiatives
The minister emphasized the role of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a foundational element for the future partnership between the two nations.
He pointed out that Pakistan Television, Radio Pakistan, and the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) play vital roles in promoting awareness of China’s development, the Belt and Road Initiative, CPEC, and the cultural ties that bind the two countries.
“Pakistan Television is fostering intellectual and cultural links by broadcasting Chinese programs, documentaries, and news reports in Urdu,” he said, while APP’s China News Service has made significant progress in sharing Pakistan’s perspective with Chinese audiences.
Mutual Recognition and Future Collaboration
Cao Shumin underscored China’s view of Pakistan as a trusted partner and stressed that media organizations from both countries can enhance collaboration through experience sharing. She highlighted that increased cooperation in media and technology would be mutually beneficial.
The meeting also emphasized crafting a joint narrative focused on civilizational exchange and innovation to further solidify bilateral relations.
Both leaders agreed that media, culture, and public relations are key pillars for strengthening the Pakistan-China relationship and that future cooperation should be advanced through coordinated strategies.
