Instagram has introduced a feature allowing creators to connect multiple reels in a series, the Meta-owned social network has told TechCrunch exclusively.
This function, already available on TikTok, enables viewers to follow and discover related content more easily. Creators telling stories or providing follow-ups can now link all relevant reels, so viewers do not need to scroll or search for different parts.
Previously, creators often urged followers to return for ‘part 2’ or check back for updates. This feature allows creators to organise related reels, making it easier for audiences to follow the sequence.
Beyond story arcs, the feature can group similar videos. For instance, a creator sharing a series of autumn recipes can connect these reels to aid discovery.
Creators may link reels when adding captions or via the overflow menu on existing reels. Once linked, users can navigate to the next reel using a button at the bottom left of the screen.
Instagram stated that the feature was highly requested and will enable richer storytelling while increasing audience engagement, potentially boosting watch time. The network anticipates it may convert casual viewers into followers.
Though not a major change, this addition benefits both creators and viewers by simplifying content discovery and sequence navigation on the platform.
